It was announced by Michael Cole during the August 10 episode of Monday Night Raw that Royce Keys was "out indefinitely" following an injury angle last week. Cole noted that Royce Keys was on the shelf after suffering a bruised larynx and cervical strain.

The storyline injuries for Royce Keys came after a post-match beatdown from Jacob Fatu following their Street Fight in the main event of the post-SummerSlam edition of WWE Raw on August 3. Fatu won the match with the Tongan Death Grip, but the Bloodline member continued to apply the submission after the referee declared Fatu the winner, with Keys suffering a bloody mouth as a result of the angle, which was blurred out on the edited version of Raw on Netflix.

Despite Keys being written off TV, the injury angle isn't a cover for a legitimate injury and was simply just a pro wrestling angle, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. When exactly Royce Keys will return to WWE programming is unknown.

Royce Keys signed with WWE in January 2026 after a six-year stint as Will Hobbs/Powerhouse Hobbs in All Elite Wrestling. Keys made his WWE debut in the men's Royal Rumble match, and he teamed with Solo Sikoa and LA Knight to defeat The Usos and Jacob Fatu in Keys' second WWE pay-per-view match at SummerSlam.
