Backstage News On The Motor City Machine Guns' Planned WWE SmackDown Debut

Motor City Machine Guns have been planned for SmackDown for 'some time'

The October 4 episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a vignette showcasing two silhouetted figures driving a car around a city in a police chase. It is believed that this is to hype up the impending debut of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns. The pair signed to WWE in recent months, and it was reported at the time that they were NXT-bound.

However, the pair did not show up as expected at the NXT debut on The CW on October 1, and instead this vignette aired in the aftermath on SmackDown, suggesting that they are headed straight for the main roster.

Fightful Select has provided some clarity on the plans for the Motor City Machine Guns, noting that someone from WWE reached out to reveal that the pair have been planned for SmackDown for “quite some time”, and noting that they had not heard of any plans at all of the tag team being discussed for NXT.

It was reported last month that MCMG were seen as a “signing for the future” for WWE despite them being 41 and 42 years of age respectively.
