Backstage News On Tony Schiavone Being Added To AEW Collision Announce Team

More on Tony Schiavone being drafted in for AEW Collision

Although Tony Schiavone has been a regular backstage presence at AEW Collision since the show's debut on June 17, the former WCW lead announcer was at the commentary desk for the October 14 edition of AEW's Saturday night show.

Schiavone was alongside Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness for much of the show before Kelly was substituted for Jim Ross for the main event of Christian Cage vs. Bryan Danielson for the TNT Championship. Schiavone's performance for this match in particular was marked out for praise.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Tony Khan made the call for Tony Schiavone to be the lead announcer for Saturday's Collision. If Schiavone will continue in this role on the Saturday night series is unknown.

Schiavone was the play-by-play announcer in WCW for several years but he has been a colour commentator for much of his AEW run since he signed with the promotion in 2019. He is on AEW Dynamite every week alongside Excalibur and Taz.

Outside of commentary, Schiavone is the Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent.
