Backstage News On WWE Moving Royal Rumble 2025 To February

Could WWE Royal Rumble move to February permanently?

For the first time ever, Royal Rumble will not air in January in 2025 as WWE's first major pay-per-view of the year will instead emanate from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 1. Royal Rumble 2025 was part of a major deal between WWE and Indiana Sports Corp that will see a two-night WrestleMania and a two-night SummerSlam also take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in future years. along with other WWE shows across Indiana.

The deal is reportedly the "largest site fee ever for a WrestleMania and for a Royal Rumble."

Fightful Select has reported that moving Royal Rumble to February has long been talked about within WWE as the company is looking to avoid going up against Super Bowl weekend or the NFL playoffs in general. If the show will remain in February beyond 2025 is unknown but the Super Bowl calendar may cause WWE to move the pay-per-view to the second month of the year permanently.

A long-time WWE higher-up also didn't rule out making future editions of Royal Rumble two nights, telling Fightful that the event is constructed in a way that would easily work over two nights. The Royal Rumble pay-per-view since 2018 has featured two Royal Rumble matches.
