Backstage Reaction To Latest Set Of WWE Releases

There was reportedly a mixture of sympathy and jokes backstage following WWE's latest releases

A sour taste can be left in the backstage environment following any sort of releases from WWE, and that is exactly the case when it comes to the recent releases of Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, Sanga, Veer, and Xyon Quinn.

According to PWInsider, there was especially a lot of sympathy for the pairing of Mahal and Li, who were “well liked” backstage. In the case of former WWE Champion Mahal, the feeling was that he had been given nothing of substance to do creatively for years, and when given the smallest bits to do such as his acclaimed segment with The Rock earlier this year, he nailed his performance and got no real reward. For Li, the feeling was that her stop/start introduction under Vince McMahon badly affected her booking.

Despite the negativity and sympathy for those let go by WWE, PWInsider noted that there was a running joke among a few talents of Mahal feuding with AEW’s Tony Khan by the time the summer rolls around.

When it comes to WWE’s approach to India, the report also noted that talents wondered if the company was changing track when it came to entering the Indian market. Sanga commented publicly on how WWE’s lack of opportunities for Indian wrestlers contradicted their attempts to bring in Indian fans.
