Backstage Reaction To Sami Zayn's WWE Title Win

Sami Zayn’s WWE Championship win at Night Of Champions received acclaim from fans, with it coming after a multi-year chase to the gold. This positivity was also reportedly spread both backstage in WWE and across the professional wrestling industry too. 

According to Fightful Select, the aftermath of Zayn’s win over Cody Rhodes and Gunther to win the WWE Championship was met with happiness within WWE, with it being noted that a lot of talent were happy about Zayn winning the WWE Championship. It was also stated that talent outside of WWE were happy too, with this being an industry-wide sense of joy. There was some reported pessimism regarding WWE’s approach and the possibility of Brock Lesnar dethroning Zayn for the gold ahead of SummerSlam, but with Oba Femi making the decision to put aside his guaranteed title shot, which was reported recently to always have been the plan, this is not set to happen. 

It was revealed in the days following Zayn’s win that WWE’s original plans were for him to win the belt at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia next year, before plans for this were brought forwards.
