Bandido has been absent from an AEW ring since all the way back on the June 16, 2023 episode of AEW Rampage where he took on Konosuke Takeshita, suffering a broken wrist which ruled him out for well over a year, leading to multiple surgeries. It was noted that back in July of this year, Bandido had attempted to get cleared for a comeback, but was unsuccessful, with him set to be re-evaluated later down the line.

It looks as though Bandido will finally be making his comeback soon, as it was revealed by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Bandido had been officially cleared for in-ring competition, meaning that his return could now happen at any point in the near future. It was also noted that he was backstage at AEW’s recent tapings in Salt Lake City, which indicates that he could be well within plans for a return soon.

Bandido signed with AEW in 2022, though has only wrestled on 13 occasions for the promotion, most notably challenging Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship - a title he previously held.
