It was revealed this week that Matthew & Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks would be taking a break from AEW programming for an undisclosed amount of time. The events of AEW Fright Night Dynamite this week, in which they lost the AEW World Tag Team Titles to Private Party and subsequently left a chaotic venue due to the antics of Jon Moxley & The Blackpool Combat Club, were done to write them off TV.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided some more details on The Bucks’ absence, revealing that Nick Jackson had been dealing with a separated shoulder, working with the injury in recent weeks. Additionally, the idea around their exit is to set up a return down the line to help save AEW from Jon Moxley’s hostile takeover of the company.

It is noted that there is no current timetable for their return and they are not scheduled for AEW’s upcoming Full Gear 2024 PPV. The Bucks are scheduled to compete at the AEW & NJPW Wrestle Dynasty event on January 5, so this could be an indication of when to expect their eventual return to AEW programming.
