CMLL have previously blocked some AEW talents from working All Elite Wrestling's events that feature wrestlers from the Lucha Libre promotion, with the likes of RUSH banned from 2024's Forbidden Door. CMLL typically restricts wrestlers who have left the promotion from returning or from wrestling CMLL talents.
AEW and CMLL's working relationship has continued to blossom since it was first formed in October 2023 and there appears to have been a loosening on CMLL's ban, at least for one wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling.
Bandido provided a voiceover for AEW's upcoming Grand Slam Mexico show from Arena México. This led to speculation that Bandido could be involved at the show. LuchaBlog has now reported that their understanding is CMLL and Bandido have held talks and the ROH World Champion is expected to work AEW's slate of shows from Arena México.
AEW will be involved across three events at Arena México later this year, beginning with AEW & ROH vs. CMLL on Tuesday, June 17. This will be followed by AEW Grand Slam Mexico on Wednesday, June 18. AEW and ROH wrestlers will then be featured at CMLL's Fantastica Mania on June 20 in addition to wrestlers from NJPW and RevPro.
Bandido previously wrestled for CMLL between 2019 and 2021, during which he had a critically acclaimed match against Volador Jr. Bandido exited CMLL in 2021 after they failed to agree to terms on a contract and Bandido booked AAA talents on an independent show he ran out of his gym.
