RUSH Banned From AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2024

RUSH blocked from AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

RUSH is not allowed to work the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio

RUSH faced MJF in a commercial-free match on the June 19 episode of AEW Dynamite and Alvarez noted the match took place on Dynamite because RUSH is banned from Forbidden Door. Dave Meltzer noted that CMLL would not be happy if RUSH was booked on the pay-per-view.

"It was commercial-free because this match can't air on pay-per-view. RUSH is not allowed on Forbidden Door. I'm telling you he's not allowed there. I don't know what they'll tell you but RUSH is not allowed on Forbidden Door," Alvarez said.

"Somebody did tell me from the whole thing that CMLL would not be happy with RUSH on that show...When I did the story, I asked about RUSH and I did not get someone telling me that he could not be on the show but they said RUSH and MJF is going to be on television, it's not going to be on the pay-per-view," Meltzer added.

CMLL will be involved at Forbidden Door, with Stephanie Vaquer and Hechicero both announced for matches on the show. RUSH previously spent 10 years in CMLL but he was fired by the promotion in 2019 for not following company guidelines, shortly after RUSH won the ROH World Championship for the first time.

RUSH has since worked for AAA, although he hasn't wrestled for the promotion since August 2023. CMLL and AEW established a working relationship in late 2023 and the partnership has proven to be fruitful for both companies so far.
