Batista Details Struggle With 'Crippling Anxiety' During WWE Career

Batista struggled with anxiety during his time in WWE

Throughout the Ruthless Aggression and early PG Era of WWE, Batista emerged as one of the biggest stars in the entire company, winning six world championships, a Royal Rumble, main eventing WrestleMania, and more. He is someone who was WWE’s ideal size for a top champion, and he developed charisma and mic skills which eventually opened the door to Hollywood for him.

However, Batista isn’t someone who found any of this easy, and he even suffered from “crippling anxiety” throughout his WWE career. He recently spoke with Arizona’s Family and discussed his battles with anxiety, especially in the early days of his time in wrestling.

"When I started wrestling, I was literally physically sick before I walked out from the curtain. I used to walk out and [screams]. And all my anxiety was gone. And that's what it is. I get nervous, and I get self-conscious, and then I get anxious, but as soon as I go [screams] it goes away. It's easy for me to do that – I can relax from there. As soon as I get that out, I can relax from there."

Batista would do that signature “roar” when making his entrance time and time again, and it now makes more sense as to why.
