Becky Lynch Vs. Liv Morgan Reportedly Originally Planned For Hour 2 Of WWE Raw

A stellar main event

The Raw Women's Championship match that main event this past week's episode of WWE Raw was reportedly originally scheduled for the show's second hour.

Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan closed Monday Night Raw with a strong match for the Raw Women's Title, in which 'Big Time Becks' retained the Championship against her challenger.

According to PWInsider, the bout was not originally planned for the main event spot but was instead going to be a feature of the show's second how. Raw was scheduled to be main evented by the Steel Cage Match between Big E and Kevin Owens, while the subsequent attack by Bobby Lashley would have closed the show.

However, there was a significant push backstage by certain officials to instead run with Lynch and Morgan as the main event segment, something that got approved after it was pointed out that December 6 Raw fell on the 17 year anniversary of the Trish Stratus vs. Lita Raw main event in 2004.

Many people in the company are pointing to how well the match has performed on WWE's digital platforms as an indication of how well received the bout was by fans.

In regards to the Big E vs. Kevin Owens match, the idea was for a promo segment between the duo and Seth Rollins to open the show before the Steel Cage confrontation at the end of Raw.
