Blake Monroe, formerly known as Mariah May in AEW, made her debut on NXT programming in early June, emerging unannounced on the June 3 episode to signal her intentions of becoming the future NXT Women’s Champion. Her appearance came shortly after her profile on AEW’s roster page was removed, with it becoming clearer that she was parting ways with the company.
Throughout June, Blake Monroe has only appeared in a non-wrestling capacity on NXT, both in vignettes and in live promos, with WWE’s developmental brand holding off on her competing in a match. However, last night featured her official in-ring debut for WWE, as she wrestled at an NXT live event in Fort Pierce, Florida, defeating Laney Reid in singles action.
This was Monroe’s first match since her acclaimed ;Hollywood Ending’ clash with Timeless Toni Storm at AEW Revolution 2025 over the AEW Women’s World Championship, wrapping up their long-term feud and storyline. When it comes to WWE’s decision to change her ring name from Mariah May to Blake Monroe, her new ring name was influenced by her niece and by Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.
