Blocks Revealed For 2023 NJPW G1 Climax

NJPW has announced who is in which block for the G1 Climax

At NJPW Dominion, the full 32-person line-up was revealed for the upcoming G1 Climax tournament, with the promotion opting for a new system this year. The company does periodically change up for the format for the G1, and this year it will see four blocks of eight wrestlers, with the top two wrestlers in each group going through to the next round. 

Over the weekend, NJPW revealed who would be in which block. 

Block A:

  • Hikuleo
  • Ren Narita
  • Shota Umino
  • Yota Tsuji
  • Gabe Kidd
  • Kaito Kiyomiya

Block B:

  • Kazuchika Okada
  • YOSHI-HASHI
  • Taichi
  • KENTA
  • Great-O-Khan
  • Will Ospreay
  • Tanga Loa
  • El Phantasmo

Block C:

  • David Finlay
  • Tomohiro Ishii
  • EVIL
  • Tama Tonga
  • Shingo Takagi
  • Aaron Henare
  • Eddie Kingston
  • Mikey Nicholls

Block D:

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • Tetsuya Naito
  • Hirooki Goto

The tournament will kick off on July 15, with the group stage matches taking place almost daily until things get wrapped up on August 9 when the tournament progresses into its next stage. August 10 and August 12 will host the knockout rounds, with the final taking place on August 13.
