Bobby Lashley Wins WWE United States Title At Money In The Bank

Bobby Lashley is United States Champion once again. 

The All Mighty defeated Theory at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view to capture the championship for a third time. Theory looked set to retain in the final moments after he went for an ATL but Lashley avoided the finisher and applied the Hurt Lock, forcing Theory to tap out. 

The result came as somewhat of a surprise, with many expecting Theory to retain via shenanigans heading into the match.

Lashley has previously held the United States Championship twice, first for 49 days in 2006 before a 175-day reign from August 2020 until February 2021. Theory's first reign, meanwhile, is over after 75 days. Vince McMahon's protege defeated Finn Balor for the gold back in April and successfully defended it twice against Mustafa Ali prior to his loss at Money In The Bank against Lashley. 

Theory and Lashley had been feuding in recent weeks and The All Mighty earned the United States Title match by winning a Gauntlet Match on the June 20 episode of Monday Night Raw.
