Goldberg was not best pleased after his retirement speech was cut short as Saturday Night’s Main Event was taken off the air following his final WWE match against Gunther. He revealed that he was unhappy with how his retirement match was handled, noting that he was a WCW guy and the likes of The Undertaker and John Cena wouldn’t have gotten the same treatment. WWE did apologise to Goldberg for cutting short his speech, with it uploaded in full on social media almost immediately after.

WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has had his say on the situation when speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, stating that he felt as though the speech was supposed to be for the fans in the arena.

“I thought the speech was meant for the Georgia fans. I thought that would have been more for them than anything. I’m thinking, ‘all those guys, for that ride’… the intimacy with Georgia meant more for Bill Goldberg than the masses.”

He went on to disagree with Goldberg’s view by saying that he believed the send off was great.

“I think [they] did a great job. I thought it was a great sendoff. For him to actually be headlining something like that, that’s just like a pay-per-view… his sendoff was definitely better than a lot of guys. A lot of guys don’t get that. A lot of guys don’t get a last match.”

It was revealed recently that Goldberg had blocked his son from signing with WWE’s NIL program.
