Braun Strowman has taken to social media to issue a short statement regarding his release from WWE.

Strowman, along with Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett, was confirmed as being let go by WWE in the latest round of releases on Wednesday 2 June.

The 37-year-old has now reacted to his departure with a short message on Twitter, writing: "What a chapter in life. Thank you!!!!!"

The former Universal champion would put the same message on his Instagram feed, sharing a picture on a tour bus alongside Bray Wyatt, Samoa Joe, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, The Good Brothers and others.

Strowman's WWE departure is the one that perhaps has caught fans the most by surprise. Strowman was involved in a high-profile Steel Cage Match with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 37, before challenging for the WWE Title in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania Backlash just a couple of weeks ago.

Strowman's mega, multi-year contract, which was reportedly worth over $1 million-a-year, may have played a role in WWE's decision to let him go.
