BREAKING: First Round Matches Revealed For WWE UK Championship Tournament

Ligero vs. Travis Banks is an interesting one - but what about the others?

WWE have just revealed the first round match-ups for the upcoming WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, held on June 18 and 19 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

Those first round matches are as follows:

Drew Gulak vs. Jack Gallagher
Ashton Smith vs. Joseph Conners
Flash Morgan Webster vs. James Drake
Kenny Williams vs. Dave Mastiff
Ligero (formerly El Ligero) vs. Travis Banks
Zack Gibson vs. Amir Jordan
Tucker vs. Joe Coffey
Jordan Devlin vs. Tyson T-Bone

There are some very interesting match-ups there indeed, particularly those which are guaranteed to see a notable UK favourite knocked out in the first round.

One such match is Joe Coffey vs. Tucker. Although perhaps not as big a name as former ICW Champion Coffey on the UK independent scene, Tucker took part in the tournament last year, putting on one of the competition's best matches against Tyler Bate.

Another sees experienced stalwart of the UK scene Ligero taking on Travis Banks, the latter having become one of the biggest names in UK wrestling over the past couple of years. Banks is the current PROGRESS Champion, and as such, could well be considered one of the tournament favourites (given PROGRESS' relationship with WWE). However, the masked Ligero remains one of the most distinctive - and therefore potentially marketable - Superstars in the tournament.

The pairing of two 205 Live stars in Gulak and Gallagher is also interesting, as many may have assumed that they'd be kept apart as two of the more recognisable names in the tournament for more casual fans.

The eventual winner will go on to face Pete Dunne for the United Kingdom Championship.
