Brock Lesnar & Cody Rhodes Post-Match Moment Was Unplanned, Says Triple H
Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes' show of respect wasn't planned
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar wrapped up their trilogy at SummerSlam 2023, with Rhodes emerging victorious 2-1 from their series together. After the bell, Lesnar removed his gloves before squaring up with Rhodes, giving him a handshake, hug, and raising his arm to the audience. When Triple H was asked about this moment in the SummerSlam press conference, he revealed that it wasn’t planned.
“Completely unplanned, completely in the moment, and I just, for me, Brock Lesnar is such a unique athlete, human being, all those things, but he really, I don’t believe, gets the credit he deserves at being one of the all-time greats at this. Unbelievable athlete at the highest of levels, UFC at the highest of levels, you could make the argument and would be accurate, greatest combat athlete of all time, but just talking about sports entertainment, just this, my opinion, one of the greatest of all time.”
Whether Triple H was sincere in this or whether this was done just to protect the aura of Lesnar and kayfabe isn’t known. Either way, it is easy to imagine Lesnar doing something like this off his own back.
