Brock Lesnar Wins The WWE Championship at WWE Day 1 2022

The Beast was meant to wrestle Roman Reigns for the Universal Title

Just mere hours after being added to the match, Brock Lesnar has become the new WWE Champion!

The Beast Incarnate had been scheduled to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WWE Day 1 on Saturday evening, only for a late positive COVID-19 test for the Tribal Chief to rule him out of the Premium Live Event.

WWE announced, with Reigns being unavailable, that Lesnar would instead join Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley in the WWE Title Match, changing the match from a Fatal-4-Way to a Five-Way.

In the main-event of the show, Lesnar would hit F5s for fun before connecting with his devastating finisher on reigning champion Big E, pinning the New Day member to claim the Championship.

Lesnar is now a six-time WWE Champion and, overall, a nine-time World Champion in the promotion, having also won the Universal Title on three occasions.

Lesnar's unexpected victory has fans intrigued by the Beast's direction in WWE between now and WrestleMania 38, given he was set to compete for a completely different Championship just a few hours before WWE Day 1 went on the air, and with rumours persisting that Lesnar and Reigns are set to meet again at 'The Showcase Of The Immortals' in April.
