Brodie Lee Reveals Triple H Offered To Send Him To NJPW While Under WWE Contract
A peculiar arrangement...

On the March 18 episode of Dynamite, Brodie Lee made his long anticipated debut in AEW as he was revealed as The Dark Order's Exalted One. Lee has already proven his talents outside of WWE as he quickly dispatched QT Marshall on Wednesday.
Big Rig appeared on the latest edition of Talk Is Jericho to discuss his time in the wrestling behemoth. While he discussed many topics, including his frustration with pitching ideas to Vince McMahon, he revealed that after he requested his release in April 2019, Triple H called him and offered to send him to New Japan Pro-Wrestling while under WWE contract. Lee, of course, accepted the offer as he said he just wanted to wrestle and would love to go to NJPW, but had his doubts as the companies don't have a working relationship.
The former SmackDown Tag Team Champion did admit he thought at one point that WWE was either going to buy New Japan to launch NXT Japan or put them on the WWE Network. Ultimately, neither happened and Lee briefly returned to TV in October 2019 before being released by the company in December.
Brodie said: "Hunter had called me like 'what do you want to do?' I was like 'I want to wrestle.' He goes 'do you want to go to New Japan?' And I was like 'yes, 100 percent, can we make that happen?' He was like, 'yeah, I think I can make that happen.' And then, of course, never happened."
He later added: "At that point, I thought New Japan was either going to be bought or put on the (WWE) Network and, of course, neither happened. I just think there was too many snafus to put a WWE guy on New Japan."
