Report: Original Plans For WWE WrestleMania 36 Title Matches Revealed

The card looked very different...

WrestleMania 36 is only eight days away and will be broadcast on April 4 and April 5 from multiple locations. Most of the matches at The Showcase Of The Immortals have already been taped, with the finishing touches to some of the off-site bouts being done over the next week.

The card has gone through a great deal of change in the past few days as Roman Reigns decided to pull out of his Universal Championship match against Goldberg, and other Superstars have been withdrawn from the event because of the coronavirus pandemic.

One of these stars was Rey Mysterio as it emerged earlier this week that The Master Of The 619 was in quarantine and wouldn't be able to compete at Mania.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rey was originally scheduled to be involved in a United States Championship match against Andrade in either a one on one bout or a multi-person contest with Humberto Carrillo and Aleister Black. However, WWE decided to have Black face Bobby Lashley.

This caused Mysterio's match to be changed to a Triple Threat Tag Team match for the Raw Tag Team Championships in which he would have teamed with Carrillo against Andrade & Angel Garza, and The Street Profits.

With Rey being placed into quarantine, Carrillo was also removed from the bout and now Andrade & Garza will take on Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins in a tag team match for the titles.
