Bryan Danielson Clarifies WWE's Stance On 'Yes!' Chants In AEW

Bryan Danielson has clarified his comments about WWE asking him to respect their intellectual property and not lead fans in 'Yes!' chants while in All Elite Wrestling. 

Speaking to Rasslin' with Brandon Walker ahead of his match against Kenny Omega at Dynamite: Grand Slam, Danielson said the following: "I have done it because it's an easy way to get a response and to get fans to show the ability of how excited they are about the potential matchup. 

"I'm not doing it myself because I respect WWE's intellectual property. I don't think anything legally, they haven't threatened anything legally. I had a great conversation with Kevin Dunn before I debuted with AEW. I was very upfront with WWE of, 'I want to let you guys know I'm leaving. This is my debut date.' They asked me, politely, to respect their intellectual property. Even some things that couldn't be legally enforced. I'm trying my best to do that.

"There are also certain expectations fans have of me that they want to be able to do. I'm happy they still get to do that. I'm going to do my best to avoid swinging my arms in the air."

Following the interview, Danielson clarified some of his comments to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer and blamed himself for not explaining the situation well enough. 

Danielson told Meltzer that WWE have never spoken to him about the 'Yes!' chants. His intellectual property meeting with Kevin Dunn predominantly revolved around music and Dunn never mentioned the chants, nor have there been threats, discussions or legal letters from WWE about the chants.

The American Dragon is okay with fans doing the 'Yes!' chants but he doesn't want to encourage it in the same manner he did in WWE because he plans to differentiate between Bryan Danielson and Daniel Bryan. The former WWE Champion also reiterated that he respects WWE.
