Bryan Danielson's AEW 'Wrestling Contract' To Expire On August 1
Bryan Danielson's AEW 'wrestling contract' ending next week
Jul 25, 2024
Bryan Danielson's 'wrestling contract' with All Elite Wrestling expires in just a matter of days.
Speaking with Renee Paquette in an AEW interview, 'The American Dragon' revealed his deal as a wrestler in AEW comes to an end on August 1.
"That's true. Well, August 1st actually. Next Thursday. My wrestling contract is up, which also happens to be my son's fourth birthday. I'm not saying this - Tony (Khan) talked about this in an interview so I feel comfortable talking about it. I'm not MJFing this and being like, trying to use my contract being up and being like, 'Oh! I'm gonna get all the money. Somebody give me all the money!'" Danielson said.
"Yeah, my contract is up August 1st. When I signed this contract, me and Brie (Garcia), we talked about how this would be the last wrestling contract I was gonna sign... Part of me is wondering what life is like after this. Part of me is excited about that. But, right now, even though Wembley is after this, I still have to focus on that, right? That's gotta be kind of my focus and so, yeah... It's a wild time."
Bryan Danielson is set to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at All In on August 25 inside London's Wembley Stadium. Danielson revealed elsewhere in the interview that AEW's Dr Michael Sampson doesn't want him to wrestle before the pay-per-view.
"I guess the bigger thing is that Doc Sampson doesn't want me to wrestle until Wembley and that's actually the harder part. The part of, 'What do you mean? I'm here in Nashville!' That sort of thing so...Even talking to Doc Sampson, there's like, 'I gotta go hard, I gotta do this' and he's like, 'Listen, right now, your neck is fixable. Better make sure that it stays fixable.'"
Danielson plans to wrap up his full-time in-ring career in 2024 but he has no plans to ever retire. He will seemingly wrestle for AEW beyond 2024 as Tony Khan recently stated that Danielson is planning to stick with the promotion beyond the end of his full-time in-ring career.
