Buddy Matthews Match & More Set For NJPW Strong: Rivals

Buddy Matthews back in action

Buddy Matthews will return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling next month.

NJPW announced today that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will go one on one with Ren Narita at the February 17 Strong: Rivals taping in Los Angeles, California.

Matthews made his NJPW debut at Battle In The Valley in November of 2021, losing to Kazuchika Okada, but he hasn't performed for the promotion since.

February 17 will also continue what has been a strong start to 2022 for Ren Narita. The LA Dojo man opened the year by facing his mentor Katsuyori Shibata inside the Tokyo Dome in The Wrestler's return match. Narita then faced Josh Barnett at the January 15 NJPW Strong taping in Seattle, Washington.

The US of Jay Open Challenge will also continue at Strong: Rivals, while JONAH and Christopher Daniels will be in action as well.

Check out the announced card below:

  • Buddy Matthews vs. Ren Narita
  • Jay White vs. TBA - US Of Jay Open Challenge
  • Christopher Daniels vs. Gabriel Kidd
  • FinJuice vs. JONAH & Bad Dude Tito
