Bull Nakano Discusses 90s WWE Locker Room, Thanks Randy Savage

The Macho Man Randy Savage helped Bull Nakano feel comfortable in WWE.

Legendary Japanese professional wrestler Bull Nakano was honoured by WWE during WrestleMania 40 weekend when she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

While most of Nakano's success came in her home country for the All-Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling promotion, she had two stints with WWE. The first, a brief spell in the 1980s, was unremarkable, but Nakano re-emerged during the mid-90s and had a noted rivalry with Alundra Blayze.

Speaking about her experience with Sports Illustrated, Nakano mentioned that she regularly spoke with Vince McMahon about her future in the company, albeit through an intermediary.

"I talked with Vince about my future work in WWE after every TV match. I didn't speak any English, so Luna Vachon explained it to me. It is a fond memory of mine," Nakano said.

Continuing, the former WWE Women's Champion made a point to mention one particular star who helped her feel comfortable in a new environment, saying:

"All of the top stars were also excellent human beings, especially the 'Macho Man', who was very kind to me. Randy made me laugh with his gestures when I could not understand English. I want to make sure to thank him".

Nakano retired from in-ring competition in 1997 and took up golf. In 2023, she was named the commissioner of the Japanese all-female, US-based Sukeban promotion.
