Carmelo Hayes Added To WWE United States Title Tournament Following Deadline

Carmelo Hayes to be on WWE SmackDown this week

Carmelo Hayes is heading to the WWE main roster, for at least one week.

Shawn Michaels has revealed that Hayes will be NXT's representative in the United States Title tournament on SmackDown. Hayes will face Grayson Waller in the quarter-finals of the tournament to determine the number one contender for Logan Paul's championship.

Hayes has been one of the top stars in NXT over the past couple of years. He picked up a win over Lexis King at Deadline on Saturday, December 9.

Waller and Hayes have faced each other before and Carmelo successfully defended the NXT Championship against Waller at Spring Breakin' earlier this year.

The other quarter-final match set for SmackDown is Kevin Owens vs. Austin Theory. Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar have already advanced to the semi-finals following wins on December 8.

When the number one contender will challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship has yet to be revealed. Paul has held the gold since defeating Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel in early November.
