Carmelo Hayes Credits Shawn Michaels For His Success In WWE NXT

Carmelo Hayes has credited his work with Shawn Michaels for the success he has achieved in WWE NXT so far. 

Hayes won the NXT 2021 Breakout Tournament earlier this year and is the brand's current North American Champion, and was also on the winning team inside the men's WarGames match at NXT WarGames earlier this month. 

Hayes has developed a close working relationship with NXT Producer Michaels, who has reportedly taken the young wrestler under his wing, and Hayes has a lot of respect for the time and effort the Heartbreak Kid has put into him.

Speaking on WWE's The Bump, Hayes said: "It’s one of those things where you have to remind yourself of who he is. We see him week in, week out. We talk to him like he’s a regular guy.

"But when you take a step back and realize he’s one of the greatest ever to do this in this business. He’s taught me a lot of things that I’ve applied, and I think that’s a reason for my success in NXT 2.0."
