Triple H has been retired as a professional wrestler since 2022 but a change has only just been made to his internal WWE status.

Despite being retired for several years, Triple H continued to be listed as an active talent until he was finally removed earlier this month, PWInsider has reported. Triple H was listed within the miscellaneous section of the active roster. While he won't be wrestling, Paul Levesque will continue to make appearances on WWE programming in his capacity as WWE chief content officer.

Triple H announced his retirement as a pro wrestler in March 2022, having suffered heart failure in September 2021 which resulted in an ICD being installed in his chest. The nine-time WWE Champion began his pro wrestling career in 1992 and last wrestled in June 2019 at a WWE house show in Japan where he teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura to defeat Samoa Joe and Robert Roode.

Triple H has been the head of WWE creative since July 2022, although he would often be in conflict with Vince McMahon over creative until as late as December 2023, with McMahon resigning as TKO executive chairman in January 2024 after being accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse by former WWE employee Janel Grant.

Triple H signed a new deal earlier this year to remain WWE chief content officer. The exact length of Paul Levesque's new contract is unknown but it is possibly as long as three years.
