Charlotte Flair Wins SmackDown Women's Title In WWE Return

Charlotte Flair is the new WWE SmackDown Women's Champion

Charlotte Flair is at the top of the women's division once again.

Flair had been away from WWE since she lost an "I Quit" Match to Ronda Rousey at May's WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view, being written off TV in the match with a storyline injury so she could marry Andrade El Idolo. Charlotte made her sudden return on the December 30 edition of SmackDown, though, interrupting a post-match promo from Ronda Rousey, who had just defeated Raquel Rodriguez in a 16-minute match.

Flair challenged Rousey to an immediate SmackDown Women's Title match and while Shayna Baszler urged the champion not to accept, Rousey took the match as she was "feeling spicy."

40 seconds later and Charlotte Flair was a 14-time Women's Champion as she reversed an Armbar attempt from Rousey into a pin for the victory. Flair then celebrated in the crowd with her new title.

With Flair's win, Rousey's second reign as SmackDown Women's Champion ended at 83 days. She regained the title from Liv Morgan in October at Extreme Rules.
