Chris Adonis Says NWA Fans Rejected Tyrus Because He Can't Move

Chris Adonis gives his opinion on Tyrus’ run as NWA Champion

With his defeat to EC3 at NWA 75, Tyrus not only lost the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, but also called time on his in-ring career, with the controversial star announcing ahead of the match that he’d retire if he lost.

Tyrus’ run with the 10lbs of gold was divisive to say the least, with Tyrus’ work with FOX News and outspoken conservative opinions alienating sections of the NWA fan base. However, Chris Adonis doesn’t believe these were factors in Tyrus’ run receiving negative attention, with the former Chris Masters saying the following on Twitter/X:

“Hey @nwa Is it ok to say now that our fans didn’t reject Tyrus due to politics or Fox News. IT WAS CAUSE HE CAN’T MOVE,” posted Adonis before later deleting the post.

Tyrus’ performance in the main event at NWA 75 was criticised, with footage of the former Funkasaurus failing to properly run the ropes doing the rounds on social media. Tyrus’ run as NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion lasted 289 days, first winning the belt from Trevor Murdoch at Hard Times 3 in November 2022.
