Chris Bey has been out of the ring for over a year, suffering a scary injury at the October 27, 2024 taping of TNA IMPACT that left him paralysed from the neck down, with not only his wrestling career but his long-term health under threat. Over several months, Bey found himself being able to walk under his own power, and make it clear that he hadn’t closed the door on being a professional wrestler.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live with Bryan Alvarez and Tom Lawlor, the 29-year-old opened up about his condition, how he was feeling, and what he felt about an eventual return to the ring.

“I’m in no rush. I know when my body’s ready for it, I’ll be able to do it. I started coaching again at Future Stars of Wrestling. So, I do public classes again but I’m just coaching. I’m not rolling around or doing anything physical, when the time comes, my body will tell me if I can or if I should. I just wanna wake up and feel good  That’s been my real focus. You know, just I wanna wake up one day and go, ‘OK, I feel good today,’ and not just I’m alive because that’s my mentality now.”

Bey also spoke on the intense levels of pain he experienced through his injury, noting that he wouldn’t wish it on his worst enemy. When it came to his surgery, Bey explained that there was only a 10 to 25% chance of walking again.
