Chris Jericho’s current Learning Tree gimmick has proven pretty divisive with All Elite Wrestling audiences, but it seems he’s got a fan in Hulk Hogan.
The Hulkster was a recent guest on Barstool Rasslin’ and claims that Jericho told him his current gimmick is following the playbook Hogan used when he became ‘Hollywood’ in 1996:
"Yeah. I'll hit Cody [Rhodes] up, or we'll talk, you know. He wears that weightlifting belt and stuff like that. I talk to a lot of the guys like Chris Jericho- he’s a good friend of mine - he goes, 'Well, I'm just doing Hollywood Hogan '96.' I said, 'You're doing a good job, brother.' So I talk to a lot of the young guys. They're still running around,” said Hogan.
Hogan’s heel turn at Bash at the Beach 1996 ignited a massive boom period in professional wrestling, with Hogan going from red and yellow smiling babyface to black and white spraypaint toting venomous brutal force. Jericho - on the other hand - is smiling and waving and portraying a character that seemingly doesn’t realise he’s a bad guy.
Hogan must just know something we don’t, brother.
