Chris Jericho Comments On Jay White Signing With AEW Over WWE

Chris Jericho on AEW signing Jay White

After much speculation about his future after he left New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Jay White revealed his next destination last week, making his return to All Elite Wrestling and reuniting with Juice Robinson on Dynamite. White and Robinson have since established Bullet Club Gold, which appears to be a splinter group from the original NJPW faction as White was kicked out of BC by self-proclaimed new leader David Finlay.

Beyond AEW, there was interest in White from WWE, in particular from Triple H and William Regal, but the company reportedly "failed to communicate properly along the process" and White may have decided to join AEW in part because of the unofficial hiring freeze that has been in operation since Vince McMahon's return to WWE as Executive Chairman in January.

Regardless of why White chose AEW over WWE, Chris Jericho is happy about Switchblade's decision and the former AEW World Champion thinks it proves the promotion still has momentum.

"Jay White, what a great example of us still having momentum. Hottest free agent in the world. Silver platter for WWE. The guy is 6'4'', he's international, he has the accent, which chicks love. He's a great worker, great heel, great babyface. He chose AEW. If that doesn't tell you that something is going on with us, I don't know what will. Just to continue to build that momentum is a very exciting prospect," Jericho said on the Battleground Podcast.

Chris Jericho remains the leader of the Jericho Appreciation Society. He defeated Keith Lee on the April 12 edition of Dynamite as part of his ongoing programme with Adam Cole.

If Jericho will link up on-screen with Jay White in the future remains to be seen.
