AEW CEO Tony Khan confirmed during the pre-Dynasty media call that Chris Jericho has signed a new multi-year contract with All Elite Wrestling. Jericho had plenty of options in the world of professional wrestling, Khan noted, but the AEW president wanted the 55-year-old back in the promotion.
Chris Jericho had been off AEW TV since the post-Dynasty 2025 edition of AEW Dynamite, which took place just days after Jericho dropped the ROH World Championship to Bandido. After much speculation about his future, Jericho made his AEW return on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with Khan further stating that Jericho wanted to make his return on that show.
Jericho then made an appearance on the April 8 edition, reviving the List of Jericho gimmick that he utilised in WWE in 2016 and 2017 to set up a match with Ricochet at the Dynasty pay-per-view.
Chris Jericho is an AEW original, having signed with the company in January 2019. He was the inaugural AEW World Champion and put pen to paper on a three-year deal, with Jericho then re-signing with AEW on another three-year contract in 2022. That deal was due to expire at the end of 2025, but the contract was reportedly frozen after Jericho took time off following last year's Dynasty.
Jericho reportedly considered his options as his AEW contract ticked down, and WWE's plans for the former Undisputed WWE Champion would have seen him embark on a retirement tour. This was WWE's only plan for Jericho, however, and he ultimately opted to return to AEW.
