Chris Jericho NJPW Return Date Reportedly Revealed
Power Struggle, anyone?
Oct 5, 2018
Chris Jericho hasn't had a match in New Japan Pro Wrestling since the Dominion 6.9 event at Osaka-Jo Hall on 9 June where he defeated Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship.
Thanks to Dave Meltzer of the
Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we appear to have an update on when we can expect to see the 47-year-old back in NJPW. According to Uncle Dave, Chris will face off against EVIL at Power Struggle on 3 November with the idea behind the match so a rematch against Naito can be set up for Wrestle Kingdom in January.
The initial rumours surrounding Jericho for a long old while appeared to suggest a singles match against EVIL at King of Pro Wrestling on 8 October was on the cards. However, those rumours were proven to be false when Zack Sabre Jr. was announced as Evil's opponent instead.
Since winning the title back in June, Chris' affiliation with New Japan, as well as pro wrestling in general, has been virtually non-existent. This, of course, is mainly down to his band Fozzy embarking on a mammoth tour.
Y2J did make a shock appearance at the All In event back at the start of September, attacking Kenny Omega after The Best Bout Machine's match with Pentagón Jr to promote the Alpha Club vs. Bullet Club match on the Jericho Cruise at the end of this month. On top of that, rumours of an appearance for IMPACT Wrestling refuse to go away, but other than that, it's all been about the music for Ayatollah of Rock 'N' Rollah in recent times.
While the plans outlined above are not set in stone, it should be noted that Fozzy do not have any dates planned around Wrestle Kingdom time.
