Chris Jericho Vs. Matt Cardona Made Official For ROH Final Battle

Chris Jericho will defend the ROH World Championship against an unlikely challenger at Final Battle.

Jericho appeared in a TV Time segment on Thursday night's edition of ROH TV. The ROH World Champion noted he wanted to face someone from New York City at Final Battle and after mentioning Tony Soprano and Frank Sinatra, Jericho was actually interrupted by Matt Cardona.

Jericho referred to Cardona as 'Zack', calling back to Cardona's time in WWE as Zack Ryder. It was made official following the segment that it will be Chris Jericho vs. Matt Cardona for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle.

Thursday night was Matt Cardona's first-ever appearance in Ring of Honor. Chris Jericho is a two-time ROH World Champion, having regained the belt in a Ladder War against Mark Briscoe on the October 23 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Also announced for ROH Final Battle is Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes vs. Vincent & Dutch of The Righteous in a Texas Bullrope Match for the ROH World Tag Team Titles.

ROH Final Battle will emanate from New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday, December 20. The updated card is as follows:

• Chris Jericho (c) vs. Matt Cardona - ROH World Championship
• Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes) (c) vs. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) - Texas Bullrope Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championships
• Red Velvet (c) vs. Leyla Hirsch - ROH Women's World Television Championship
