Christian Cage has been confirmed as the new number one contender to Kenny Omega's AEW World Championship.
Cage defeated The Blade on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite Homecoming show, taking the 47-year-old to eight wins without defeat since joining All Elite Wrestling.
Following his victory, later in the show, it was confirmed by Tony Schiavone that Cage had been named the number one contender to the AEW World Title by Tony Khan.
No date or event has yet been set for Cage's chance to take the AEW Championship from Kenny Omega.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion shockingly returned from injury, seven years after retiring, at this year's WWE Royal Rumble, before signing with AEW at Revolution in March.
Cage was always adamant that he wanted to earn his place on the AEW roster and fight for his opportunities, while maintaining he wanted to re-establish himself as the top guy in the industry.
Cage is a former six-time World Champion, having won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions, the WWE ECW World Title twice, and the NWA World Heavyweight Title twice during his time in TNA.
