While many assumed Christian Cage would re-sign with WWE following his return to the ring at the Royal Rumble, Captain Charisma instead made the jump to All Elite Wrestling and he has signed a multi-year deal with the promotion.

Christian has previously noted his talks with WWE were "very cordial" but he decided to explore his options following a conversation with Jon Moxley and ended up signing with AEW shortly after.

The former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about signing with AEW and he reiterated his talks with WWE were cordial, but he was unsure of their creative plans for him.

"There were some cordial talks, and I can't really elaborate beyond that. I'm not sure where their heads were at creatively," Christian stated.

Cage ultimately debuted in AEW at Revolution and he had a brief physical confrontation with Kenny Omega on last week's Dynamite. Despite this, Christian mentioned he isn't expecting to walk into the main event scene.

"I'm not expecting to walk in and work the main event with Kenny Omega. I have some work to do and I need to prove myself. And looking at the layout of the roster, there are athletes with so much talent - like Darby Allin, who makes me think of Jeff Hardy, or MJF, who is just so talented. The sky is the limit here with a blank canvas," Cage added.
