CM Punk and Jeff Hardy had an iconic rivalry back in 2009 that saw the pair go to war in a personal battle for the World Heavyweight Championship, trading the gold and headlining multiple WWE PPVs. In recent weeks, Jeff Hardy joked that he wanted to retire CM Punk and rekindle their rivalry, and Punk was made aware of these comments in an interview with The Daily Mail.

Punk was asked whether he’d be interested in working with Hardy again, especially since Matt & Jeff Hardy recently made their return to WWE on NXT, representing TNA as the reigning TNA World Tag Team Champions.

“I think there's got to be a lot of bridges crossed. I'm all for giving people second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth chances. There are a lot of experiences I didn't enjoy so much, we don't have to get into it, but I just root for people to be free of whatever demons possess them. If he's coming back here, great, let's see what happens.”

Punk & Hardy previously both worked under the AEW banner at the same time, but did not end up having a match with one another. It was reported this week that there were currently no discussions in place of a Hardy Boyz main roster run.
