CM Punk Being Booked As A WWE Free Agent

CM Punk is a ‘free agent’ within WWE

With CM Punk making a triumphant much-publicised return to WWE Raw on November 27, it was assumed that the former WWE Champion was now officially part of the ‘red brand’.

However, a report from PWInsider Elite states that this isn’t necessarily the case, with it said that Punk is listed internally within WWE as a ‘free agent’, meaning he can work across Raw, SmackDown, and even NXT if needs be.

Although Punk looks certain to enter into a rivalry with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins on Raw, it has been reported that there are tentative plans to run Punk vs. SmackDown star Roman Reigns at some point. Although WWE are known to play fast and loose with which wrestlers appear on which shows, they have tried to keep brand lines in place as of late.

The brands take on extra importance when it comes to touring, with WWE’s house show loops still profitable business. However, it’s unlikely that Punk will be working any house shows during this run in WWE.
