CM Punk Claims To Be "Real" AEW World Champion, Spray Paints An "X" Onto The Belt

CM Punk reveals what's in the bag and claims to be the AEW World Champion

CM Punk made a major statement last night on Saturday’s AEW Collision. He finally revealed what was in his red bag that he’s been carrying around since his return to the company. Much like many fans had predicted, it was the AEW World Championship belt that he’d previously held before his injury and the Brawl Out incident.

Punk claimed that he was the “real” champion since no one had pinned or submitted him to win the prize, with the title still having his blood on it from beating Jon Moxley at All Out 2022. To make his mark on the title belt, he spray-painted his iconic X symbol on the centre plate (who knew CM Punk was an Elon Musk fan).

Whether it was intentional or not, Punk’s X just so happened to blank out the “E” of All Elite Wrestling on the logo. During his promo regarding the belt, Punk also claimed to be the only adult in the room. It was also revealed by Punk that official or not, this version of the AEW World Championship would be exclusive to Collision.
