CM Punk On His Slow Build In AEW: 'Let Me Paint My Picture'

Punk is an artist!

CM Punk has commented on fan perception that his build to the World Title scene in All Elite Wrestling is slow.

Punk made his long-awaited return to wrestling in August with AEW and faced Darby Allin in his first match back at All Out 2021. Since then, Punk has also defeated Powerhouse Hobbs and Daniel Garcia on AEW television.

While some fans are wondering why the Second City Saviour hasn't yet jumped into the World Championship picture, Punk wants everyone to just let the story play out.

Speaking to Tony Maglio of The Wrap, Punk said: "I’m an artist painting my picture. Let me paint my picture. What I’m doing is very calculated, it’s very thought out. I’m here to stay.

"Trust me, in 10 years, people will be talking about what we have with AEW. It’s such a just hang out, wait and see, and have fun and enjoy the ride kind of thing. Everything is fluid: dates, contracts — literally everything.

"This has been the best working experience I’ve ever had in the wrestling business, and if there is an issue on either end, everybody just talks. There’s no drama, it’s fantastic."
