CM Punk Still Open To Facing Will Ospreay In NJPW

Following Ospreay's challenge

After defeating Kota Ibushi at Sakura Genesis, new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay challenged CM Punk to face him and "prove you were the best in the world and not the best of a bad bunch."

CM Punk has now responded to Ospreay's challenge during an interview with Digital Spy and The Straight Edge Superstar has admitted he's still open to facing The United Empire leader.

"I don't want to give people false hope in answering Ospreay. But he's for sure somebody that I've never wrestled before that interests me a lot more than, I guess, the corporate side of professional wrestling nowadays. New and different things are going to interest me more than doing the same old, same old. I always need new goals. I don't know. Let's see if he has it at the end of the summer and then ask me the question again," Punk said.

Talk of Will Ospreay vs. CM Punk first emerged in March 2020 after the former WWE Champion stated he would return to the ring for a match against The Aerial Assassin. The two men then communicated on Instagram about the match, but plans never became concrete.
