CM Punk Still Suffering From Vertigo Due To 2002 Skull Fracture

Over 20 years on from the injury, CM Punk is still feeling the effects of suffering a fractured skull in 2002, with the multi-time WWE Champion revealing that he continues to be affected by vertigo, including during some of his pro wrestling matches.

"I fractured my skull once. This is the one that reoccurs every once in a while because after I fractured my skull I developed vertigo really bad… What happened was I fractured my skull and there's some bones in your inner ear that help with equilibrium and those kind of basically were like dice inside a cup and got rattled around and thrown around. So sometimes those still get knocked loose and if I lay down and look straight up the world spins. So there's been a lot of matches that you see that a lot of people are impressed with and I'm full-on going through a bout of vertigo and I don’t know what’s going on. I will also now blame the crookedness of my moonsault on my vertigo," Punk said on Hot Ones: Extra Heat.

CM Punk sustained the fractured skull on June 15, 2002, during a JCW Jersey J-Cup quarter-finals match with Reckless Youth. Punk was out of action until late August as a result of the injury.

Punk, notably, delivered an incredibly crooked moonsault at SummerSlam 2026 during his WWE Title match with Cody Rhodes.
