Cody Rhodes 'Hated' The Young Bucks' Recollection Of Him Signing With AEW

Cody Rhodes wasn't happy with how he was portrayed in The Young Bucks' memoir

Cody Rhodes has revealed he "hated" how The Young Bucks portrayed him when recalling the founding of All Elite Wrestling within their memoir, Killing the Business: From Backyards to the Big Leagues.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Cody stated:

"I hated that in The Young Bucks' book they said I was last to the signing. Because that's a big thing. Some of the AEW defenders who don't realise they're turning people off to their product more than they're turning people on, that's one of the things that people always cite 'Oh, he was last, he wasn't that big a deal to the origin.' No, this guy here who's off camera was the first person to ever meet Tony and he met him in a vetting process for all of us. So yes, I guess I was the last and yes, I had different thoughts and it's not incorrect at all what they said [that I was physically the last person to sign]. Yeah, it's not incorrect but I was just in on it as well as anybody else. That's a little thing that when I write my book I get to tell [the story]."

The Young Bucks' version of AEW does portray Cody as being the last member of The Elite to sign with All Elite Wrestling ahead of the company's official launch in January 2019. The memoir suggests Rhodes changed his mind on a number of occasions as he tried to decide between AEW, staying with Ring of Hoor, or going back to WWE.

Before Cody had decided what to do, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega had already committed to launching AEW while Hangman Page and SCU were open to simply following the Jackson brothers and Omega wherever they ended up.

Rhodes, of course, did ultimately sign with All Elite Wrestling and he founded the promotion in January 2019 with the rest of The Elite and Tony Khan. He was an AEW EVP until his departure in February 2022.

Cody then returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and he has established himself as the company's top babyface. He is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion.

Since his departure, Rhodes and the Young Bucks have become closer than ever.
