Cody Rhodes Not Facing Roman Reigns At WrestleMania, The Rock Returns To Replace Him

The Rock has taken Cody Rhodes' spot at WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes won’t be finishing the story, at least not at WrestleMania 40. Despite winning the Royal Rumble match and seemingly setting his sights on Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes has revealed that he won’t be challenging The Tribal Chief this year. The injury to CM Punk has thrown a spanner in the works, and WWE have changed their plans for WrestleMania’s top two world title matches with him no longer facing Seth Rollins.

On SmackDown last night, Rhodes confronted Reigns and told him he still wants to take the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and everything else away from him, but not at WrestleMania. He revealed that he’d been talking to outside counsel over the week to advise him, and this brought out The Rock, who returned for the first time since his surprise appearance on RAW last month.

Rhodes and The Rock shared a small handshake and moment in the ring before Rhodes turned and left. Roman Reigns and The Rock had a face off with the WrestleMania 40 logo looming in the distance. Although nothing was made official, reports have claimed that this is now indeed set to be the main event of WrestleMania 40 night two. WWE will be hosting a press conference next week where it is expected that Rock vs. Reigns will be made official.
