Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE in 2022, bringing with him all his pre-established marketing and presentation such as his nickname, logo, entrance music, and character. Rhodes has been pushed strongly since his comeback, which has led to him becoming a top star and therefore having a lot of influence. The more prominent stars in WWE often get leeway or more say in breaking rules and pushing the boat, including the likes of John Cena.

When speaking to SPORTBible, he explained that he was able to break existing rules since coming back for his second WWE run, before explaining a rule that only John Cena is allowed to break.

"You know, what's still a pretty big on-air rule but it's good for production purposes, is not to talk into the camera. That's John's thing. John looks at the camera and mentions Stu the cameraman, runs to the ring. I don't want to see anyone, including myself, do it — and I probably have done at some point. But that's his [thing] and that's the reason why it's a rule — until somebody beats him and then it's his."

Talking directly into the camera has been a staple of John Cena’s entrance for years. Rhodes has been doing plenty of media rounds in recent weeks, stating that he wants to see a WrestleMania in the UK within the next five years.
