The biggest party of the summer could be a washout, as adverse weather conditions in the New York/New Jersey area have delayed construction of the WWE SummerSlam 2025 set.

After reports of travel delays and cancellations heading into the tri-state area, a report from Fightful Select states that construction has been delayed, although WWE are not believed to be concerned and are certain the stage will be completed on time.

Flood warnings on July 31 forced work to stop, with contractors in MetLife Stadium downing tools around 2:15pm ET. The weather looks set to ease up for SummerSlam weekend, with WWE running the first ever two-night SummerSlam event in company history on August 2 and August 3.

A state of emergency was declared in New York due to the weather conditions, with locals advised to seek higher ground, and avoid travel until Friday afternoon, with Queens’ Clearview Expressway closed in both directions, whilst some subway stations experienced cases of flooding.

The cards for both nights of SummerSlam 2025 have been revealed in advance, with the weekend set to be headlined by John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship.
