While there is reportedly a push within WWE for the company to use him on the main roster, the former Alberto Del Rio is unlikely to pop up on WWE programming.
Sources close to the situation have told Cultaholic that WWE have no interest in using Alberto El Patron due to his previous "sins." It is also considered highly unlikely that WWE will use El Patron in the future.
Sources did not clarify the nature of El Patron's "sins", but the former AAA Mega Champion has been a controversial figure within pro wrestling for several years. He was previously charged with aggravated kidnapping and four sexual assault charges in 2020, although the charges were later dismissed after a witness did not appear in court.
Reports from the likes of Fightful Select and Superluchas have also noted there are no current plans for WWE to use Alberto El Patron.
The former Alberto Del Rio performed for WWE across two runs between 2009 and 2016. He is a former WWE, World Heavyweight, and United States Champion, as well as a former Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner.
WWE signed Alberto El Patron in May of 2025 due to his AAA commitments at the time, with WWE having announced over WrestleMania 41 weekend that the company was acquiring Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
WWE have since looked to de-emphasise El Patron in AAA, booking him to drop the AAA Mega Title to El Hijo del Vikingo. El Patron also lost a match to El Mesias on July 25 which meant Alberto had to leave AAA, although his exact status with the Lucha Libre promotion is unclear.
